It Has Been Quite Painful.....

.....this week. Watching what used to be known as the most significant deliberative body in the world melt down into a puddle of crap! A beacon of deliberation, civility and democracy in action drowned in a cesspool of scum.

To see a person who is called Senator, a person who committed homicide, who was kicked out of one of the most prestigious schools in the country for cheating, who belonged to a society at that school that had a whites only requirement for membership, who has demonstrated on many occasions that he has no morals at all, to see this person question the integrity of one of the finest jurist that our country has produced made me sick!

Why couldn't a simple statement and question be asked and answered?

Senator: Judge, I have read your biography. I have read several of your published works. I have read your findings in cases that I have a great interest in. Judge, I don't like what I see. I don't see how I can vote to put you on the Supreme Court. How about telling me why I should?

Judge: Senator, I stand by every word I have written. I have nothing to hide.

Noooo.....the Senator couldn't be straight forward and honest when the camera was on him. He had to spin a web of lies, innuendos and hot button words to imply things that are not true. Things there are no evidence of. Things that there is clear evidence that the Senators statements were outright lies.

It is with jaw dropping amazement that I see these people continue to be elected to represent decent folks in their states. Why?

The Vessel Sails

The hawsers have been slipped. The bow is swinging away from the quay. Three topsails have been cast out of their gaskets and the wind is filling from the West. I, as Captain, determine where the voyage shall take those who wish to come along for the ride.
